Out-of-plane cyclic response of masonry infilled RC frames: An experimental study

This paper presents the development of an experimental campaign to investigate cyclic, out-of-plane response reinforced concrete frames containing masonry infill walls, using non-contact optical techniques measure contour strains and deformations. Bare RC frames, as well fully infilled both with without window door openings, were tested in laboratory. From analysis results, it was found that neither walls nor openings significantly affected overall behaviour specimens. However, suffered substantial damage within a storey drift ratio 1.25?2.50%, which poses risk life livelihoods. In addition, sustained further damage, especially those eccentrically positioned when compared frames. Finally, case infills debonding from surrounding frame occurred, parts could fall out due inertia influence combined, in-plane specimen.
